Science is Amazing Festival

The Lancaster Science Factory is thrilled to announce the 7th annual Science is Amazing Festival on Saturday, April 27th 2019!

You are invited to join us for Central Pennsylvania’s largest STEM Fair! The event will run 10am-4pm and the museum will remain open until 5pm.

Admission to the Science is Amazing Festival is FREE to the public and includes all Science Factory exhibits, plus special science demonstrations and activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or over.

Demonstrations, activities, and experiments are for children and their families, involving the children as hands-on participants.

Activities for 2019 include:

  • Mini Maker Faire presented by make717
  • Equipment demonstrations of a Carvey CNC machine, metal machining, 3D printers, programmable sewing machine, a Rubix Cube solving machine, and more. Come talk to the makers!


  • Soldering Zone presented by make717.  A new custom designed soldering badge will allow youngsters to solder parts on a circuit board using a soldering pencil. The finished badge will be a light memory game and also function as a Python programming platform for learning at home.
  • Live JellyBOX 3D printer build presented by IMADE3D. Kids and adults can learn how to build their own 3D printer in a day, and the finished printer will be donated to the Science Factory’s new Youth Maker Space.
  • High Steel Structures – try virtual welding with bridge experts!
  • Science Explorers – LIVE Demonstration on our Rock N Roll Stage at 12pm, plus Matter Monsters activities (related to the 3 states of matter) throughout the day!
  • Axel Diaz, Solar System Ambassador – activities related to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing!
  • Millersville University – make your own Hand Helicopter!
  • Archie’s Math – try out a Binary Machine!
  • Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories – liquid nitrogen demonstration!
  • Ecore – see how flooring is made locally from upcycled rubber tires. Rubber puzzles to solve!
  • PA Child Health Insurance Program (CHIP) – learn about the sugar content in your favorite drinks!
  • PA Cyber Charter School – seed germination activity for the spring!
  • Agora Cyber Charter School – fun science activity and color changing cup give-away!
