Science Delivered!

If you aren’t able to visit The Lancaster Science Factory for a field trip, we want to come to you! Schedule a quality, interactive STEM workshop for your class or group today. Choose from a wide variety of topics or work with our professional STEM Educators to customize a program to your curriculum. These one-of-a-kind workshops are based on current educational standards and can be tailored for grades K – 8 unless otherwise noted.

Workshop topics include coding and robotics, chemistry, engineering design, physics, and more. Make and take workshops like scribblebots and paper circuits allow students to keep their finished projects – just like in our Maker Space!

THINK LIKE AN ENGINEER

Students are presented with various design and building challenges and use the engineering design process to solve them.

2D TO 3D THINKING

Students are given a two-dimensional diagram and must use spacial reasoning to construct a three-dimensional structure.

CLICK, SNAP, CIRCUITS!

Students learn about electricity and circuits by building multiple circuit boards from simple to complex. (Ideal for grades 3 – 8)

COMPOUND BUILDER

Students learn about molecules like Oxygen (02) and compounds like Salt (NaCl) by building them out of candy and toothpicks.

NEWTON’S LAWS OF MOTION

Students experiment with Newton’s Laws of Motion by learning several “magic tricks.”

EXTREME PATTERN BLOCKS

Students explore geometry through manipulative play with pattern blocks and then make pictures using newly learned shapes.

ROBOT MAN OF MEASUREMENT

Students learn about cups, pints, quarts and gallons as they craft a robot buddy to keep!

ENERGY FLOW

Students will learn how energy flow changes forms by building interactive, working circuits.

ENGINEERING DESIGN

Students will use an assortment of tools and materials to actively engage in the Engineering Design process. They will be prompted to construct an item that fulfills a specific design challenge. Possible outcomes include windmills, sailboats, hydraulic systems, and truss bridges.

SCRIBBLEBOTS

Art and electricity combine! Students use batteries and an electronic motor to create an art-making robot of their very own.

WIND POWER

Students design and build a windmill that has the power to lift a load.

FLYING MACHINES

Using rubber bands, propellers, and other common objects, students make their own unique glider or helicopter.

PAPER CIRCUITS

Students use copper tape and LEDs to create circuits on paper. Get creative by making greeting cards, animals, or anything else you can dream up!

 

Level 1

Students will learn the basics of robotics using interactive Edison and LEGO Mindstorm robots. Ideal for grades K – 2.

Level II

Students will learn about block programming by making their own unique LED animations with the Circuit Playground Express platform.
Ideal for grades 3+

Coding and Robotics workshops are limited to 15 participants at a time. All other workshops can be held for
approximately 20 students.


30 minutes: $100
45 minutes: $135
60 minutes: $155
90 minute intensives are available upon request.

TRAVEL FEES

Travel costs may apply for locations outside of Lancaster County. Add $30 for 20 – 50 miles of travel or $60 for 51 – 100 miles.
