Spring Semester: January – April 2018
January 18: (9:30 – 11:00am or 1:00 – 2:30pm)
Space Science- Constellations and Phases of the Moon: Learn the about the different phases of the Moon. Learn to identify common constellation and how those constellations change with our seasons.
February 1: (9:30 – 11:00am or 1:00 – 2:30pm)
Investigation of Plastics and Polymers: Create different mixtures that feature unique characteristics of polymers. Understand how the carbon molecule impacts the long chain of carbons.
February 15: (9:30 – 11:00am or 1:00 – 2:30pm)
Recycling Challenges: Students will walk a common piece of newspaper through the recycling processes and learn to identify what makes something recyclable.
March 1: (9:30 – 11:00am or 1:00 – 2:30pm)
Reuse and Re-Purpose: Students will learn why reuse and re-purpose are crucial in today’s society by exploring composting and MORE…

Food for Thought- From Farm to Table Featuring Cultivation: Students will learn common practices seen in crop farming! Join us in discovering the difference between organic and standard practice cultivation. Then explore cereal grains, which are the base of our food supply.
March 29: (9:30 – 11:00am or 1:00 – 2:30pm)
Food for Thought-From Farm to Table Featuring Animal Production: Students will try their hands at making old-fashioned butter from cream and so much more.
April 12: (9:30 – 11:00am or 1:00 – 2:30pm)
Mass of Measurements-Tools of the Laboratory: Students will learn to use equipment that is common to the scientific laboratory.
April 26: (1:00 – 2:30pm)

Wind to Water-Natural Energy to Mechanical Means: Students will learn to maximize the breeze that blows outside to create energy. Then they will explore the potential energy in the falling of water. Students will finish up by making a tidal energy simulator that is created by lunar cycles.
