2011 Cold Storage Camp
Registration for Cold Storage Winter Camp has officially closed.
Join the Lancaster Science Factory in our 3rd annual Cold Storage Winter Camp. December 27-30, 2011. Send your kids to the coolest camp in the coldest time! They'll enjoy hands on activities, fun demonstrations, and be submerged in the chill and thrill, of science!
Each half-day session costs $25 per child. Reserve both sections on the same day for $45. Or book all 8 sessions for $160. The more you book, the more you save!!!!!! Members also receive an extra 10% off. Children that are attending both morning and afternoon camps are welcome to stay for Lunch Bunch, in which they can eat their own packed lunch, and then enjoy time on the exhibit floors before the afternoon camp begins. Cold Storage Camp is for children age 6-13.
Castles and Catapults SOLD OUT

Back by popular demand, except this time we're using different materials! Campers will divide into teams to construct their castle and seige weapons. Who will reign supreme on the battlefield of structural engineering?
Craters and Meteorites SOLD OUT
Tuesday, December 27th - 1 - 4 PM
Campers will identify, create and test out their own meteorites! Like true scientists, we will analyze the resulting craters. Who knew that physics could be so far out?!
Color 101 SOLD OUT!
Wednesday, December 28th - 9 - 12 NOON
Where does color come from? Why do we see it the way we do? Campers will conduct experiments to investigate these questions and to find out how different materials (like paint, water, oil, light, lenses, mirrors, and more) alter our perception of color.
The Science of Sports SOLD OUT
Wednesday, December 28th - 1 - 4 PM
What is a baseball made of? Why are some sports balls filled with air? What would happen if we used the 'wrong' equipment to play a sport? With 'sports experiments' and even the help of some of our exhibits, campers will barely realize they're learning about motion physics and principles of air flow!
Test Tube Mystery SOLD OUT

Make liquids, bubble, fizz and change color! Campers will conduct experiments, observe fascinating results and discover the properties of household products. They will also use their senses and analytical skills to identify our mystery liquids!
Junior Detectives SOLD OUT
Thursday, December 29th - 1 - 4 PM
A crime just occurred at the Lancaster Science Factory! But have no fear, CSI is here! Campers will actually detect fingerprints using various scientific techniques. They will identify, analyze and compare evidence and different suspects. Suggested ages: 8-13.
Paper Rockets! SOLD OUT
Friday, December 30th - 9 - 12 NOON
You loved it during summer camp and now it's back in minature for the winter! Campers will make, test and launch their own paper rockets using the same air pressure system from this past summer! This time, they'll aim to crush the tips of their nose-cones by shooting their rockets into our high ceiling.
The Egg Drop! SOLD OUT
Friday, December 30th - 1 - 4 PM
A scientific twist on the New Year's Eve ball drop! This classic physics experiment is beloved by children everywhere! We will provide campers with materials and direction in protecting their eggs from a deadly drop from our very own sky lounge inside the Science Factory. Who will create the best capsule and not leave a gooey mess behind?
