Science Factory Announces Russo Family Foundation Access Program Grant

The Lancaster Science Factory is delighted to announce the creation of the Access Program to provide admission for members of youth agencies in Lancaster County visiting the Science Factory. The program is sponsored by the Thomas A. & Georgina T. Russo Family Foundation in partnership with the Lancaster Science Factory. The Russo Family Foundation Access Program helps the Factory meet its objective of accessibility to all Lancaster youths.

PROGRAM NAME:
Russo Foundation Access Program

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Thomas A. and Georgina T. Russo Family Foundation has created a grant which will pay the admission of youth agency members, ages 8 through 18, visiting the Lancaster Science Factory as part of a pre-scheduled visit.

WHO QUALIFIES:
Youth agencies and youth-centered programs within 501(c)(3) not- for-profit organizations in Lancaster County.

WHERE:
The grant covers visits by members of youth agencies to the Lancaster Science Factory, 454 New Holland Avenue, Lancaster, PA.

WHEN:
The program is in effect July 1, 2008 and will continue until December 31, 2010. A finite number of admissions are available each year, but there should be enough to cover all visit requests. If we run out of Access Program admissions in a given year, we will notify you.

COST:
Admission for youth agency members, visiting as part of a pre-scheduled group visit, will be paid by the Russo Family Foundation. Admission for chaperones will be paid by the Lancaster Science Factory. Individual youth agency members, not visiting as part of a planned youth agency visit, will be charged the standard admissions fee of $6.00 for children ages 3-15, accompanied by an adult, and $7.50 for adults.

The scheduling and cost of transportation to Science Factory is the responsibility of the visiting agency. No funding for transportation or food will be provided under this grant.

CHAPERONES:
One chaperone is required for every four youth members, ages 8 and under; and one for every six youth members age 9 to 18.

ENROLLMENT:
Any youth agency in Lancaster County is eligible to enroll. You may enroll after you have confirmed that you will be able to provide transportation and chaperones. Once you have secured transportation and chaperones, you may schedule a visit by contacting the Science Factory at education@tlsf.org.

HOURS FOR YOUTH AGENCY VISITS:
Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm September through May; and Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 3:00pm June through August. No agency visits are scheduled on weekends or holidays.
