NanoDay is April 2nd at the Lancaster Science Factory

LANCASTER, PA (March 22, 2010) - How can something so small help battle cancer? Learn about this and more as the Lancaster Science Factory explores the cutting edge science known as nanotechnology with many hands on activities that bring the nanoscale to a level that humans can see and feel.

Visitors to the Science Factory will learn how nanoparticles can assemble themselves, make a model of a buckyball and learn what they are used for, and explore how nanoscopic matter is used to battle cancer and battle stains.

The Science Factory's NanoDay is in celebration of "NanoDays" a week-long, nationwide festival of educational programs about nanoscale science and engineering. Learn more at the Nanoscale Informational Science Education Network's website: www.nisenet.org.

Participation in NanoDay is free with general admission or membership with the Lancaster Science Factory. NanoDay runs Friday, April 2nd from 11am-4pm and no registration is required to participate.

The Lancaster Science Factory is a hands-on, interactive science and technology center. With over fifty exhibits demonstrating physical science, engineering and mathematics, children will learn that science is fun! The mission of the Lancaster Science Factory is to create an environment of learning which helps children develop curiosity, think creatively and build self-confidence as they learn the principles of science and the application of science in engineering and technology. All exhibits at the Science Factory align with Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
