NANO Day

Saturday, March 28, 2009, 10am - 3pm
Explore nanoscience and nanotechnology through hands-on activities and family-friendly presentations. Kids and adults can explore measurement, structure and properties of materials on a tiny scale. Guests will measure their height in nanometers, create buckyballs, experiment with ferrofluid and liquid crystals, and investigate gravity and surface area on a nano (one-billionth of a meter) scale. Nanoscience demonstrations and activities will be offered at no additional charge to Science Factory visitors who pay general admission. NanoDay is cosponsored by the Lancaster Science Factory and Cornell University.

Nearly 300 visitors to the Lancaster Science Factory had the opportunity to participate in our first Nano Day. Kids and adults alike were drawn to the many hands-on activities, many of whom mentioned they were studying nanoscience in school. We hope to continue these demonstrations in schools and to co-sponsor another Nano Day next year
