Lancaster Science Factory to Unveil Bunting Science Café

LANCASTER, PA (January 18th, 2010) - As the Lancaster Science Factory prepares for its second anniversary, it is also preparing for the unveiling of its newest exhibit: The Bunting Science Café.

Donated by Lancaster Science Factory founder Jim Bunting and his wife Penny, the Bunting Science Café provides another avenue to spark enthusiasm for science through hands-on activities. The Café itself is designed to look similar to a diner with countertops, bar stools and an information board featuring the day's experimental "science snacks". Visitors are able to have a seat at the Café at various times during the day to take part in the featured experiments.

The Science Café will be unveiled on Friday, January 22nd at the Lancaster Science Factory's "2nd Birthday Party." Members and supporters of the Science Factory are invited to this event which includes access to the museums' 50+ exhibits, light refreshments and the chance to be the first visitors to utilize the Science Café.

Visitors will have a chance to participate in four different demonstrations that will be featured at the Science Café throughout 2010. Topics to be covered include magnetism, surface tension and resonance. One demonstration focusing on nanotechnology will allow visitors to create and take home a "buckyball".

The Bunting Science Café will be open to the general public starting Saturday, January 23rd.

The Lancaster Science Factory is a hands-on, interactive science and technology center. With over fifty exhibits demonstrating physical science, engineering and mathematics, children will learn that science is fun! The mission of the Lancaster Science Factory is to create an environment of learning which helps children develop curiosity, think creatively and build self-confidence as they learn the principles of science and the application of science in engineering and technology. All exhibits at the Science Factory align with Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
